Deal drug mafia with an iron fist, CM KCR tells officials.

 

Use latest weapons and technology, study the policies adopted by law enforcing agencies such as Scotland Yard and others across the globe, chief minister Mr K Chandrasekhar Rao told the officials.

At a prolonged meeting on the drug menace in the state, the chief minister expressed his anguish as drug menace raising its ugly head at a time when the state government was trying to improve the standard of living.

Mr KCR said the government is ready to give incentives, promotions and rewards to those doing well in curbing the drug menace. He wanted the police department to recruit 1,000 experts and form a counter intelligence wing exclusively to deal with the drug mafia.

On its part, the state government will consider re-introducing the Telangana Organised Crime Act.

The chief minister asked the police officials to keep a tab on agricultural fields at village level. If any farmer is found cultivating Ganja, he will forego all the welfare schemes such as Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bheema among others.

The chief minister told the officials not to heed to recommendations from any MLA or anyone in power if they tried to protect the drug peddlers.

He wanted the parents to keep any eye the habits and hobbies of children as the drug menace kills the bright future and life of addicts. “There is no use of earning properties for children if they are not property guided in cultivating good habits, Mr KCR lamented.

Chief Secretary Mr Somesh Kumar, DGP Mr Mahender Reddy, senior officials of police and Excise department were present.
