Labour Minister Danam Nagender on Friday expressed his displeasure over the State Government’s decision to release water from Nagarjuna Sagar Dam to farmers in Krishna delta.
Talking to media persons, Danam Nagender said that the government move to release water from Nagarjuna Sagar Dam to Krishna delta would pose a major drinking water problem for Hyderabad city and its outskirts.
Appealing to the government to reconsider its decision, he said that it was not proper for the government to release water from Nagarjuna Sagar, where water levels have touched rock bottom due to shortage of inflows.
Stating that the government has promised regular water supply to residents of Hyderabad in the election manifesto, Nagender admitted that the government was not in a position to supply water even once in a week in some areas on the city’s outskirts. He also condemned Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy’s comments supporting release of water to Krishna Delta. He said that the Jana Reddy comments would further precipitate the issue.
Nagender also accused the government of showing step-motherly treatment in increasing of medical seats in the colleges from the Telangana region. Stating that Telangana region has once again meted out with injustice in the increase of medical seats, he said that Telangana leaders would not remain mute spectators if the government continues this trend. He said the leaders would organise protests against the decision of Medical Council of India. (INN)
