The OBC leaders who have been demanding 34 Assembly tickets to the BCs have decided to stage a protest. Calling the programme ‘Chalo BC – Chalo Gandhi Bhavan’, they will be staging a demonstration today.
On Thursday, some of the BC leaders – V Hanumantha Rao, Ponnala Laxmaiah, Ponnam Prabhakar and others met at the party office and decided to undertake the protest. They have been demanding two Assembly tickets in each of the 17 Parliamentary constituencies. Thus the BCs should be given 34 tickets to contest the ensuing Assembly elections.
They accused the party leadership of trying to deny the BCs tickets this time in the name of surveys and ground reports. They threatened to show their strength if the party denied them the number of tickets they were asking for. They would ensure the defeat of the party mobilising all the BC population wherever they are denied.
The affairs in the main opposition Congress party are turning murkier with each passing day as the elections are nearing. The party leadership that is claiming to be busy with the selection of candidates has turned a blind eye ignoring the BC leaders demand for now. Utter confusion and chaos prevail in the party where the leaders talk tall of defeating the popular BRS party in Telangana.
