The chief minister Mr K Chandrasekhar Rao is the first chief minister to brave the rain and knee-deep flood waters and slush and reach out to those in rehabilitation centres in agency areas.
Following reports of heavy rain in Wazed and Venkatapuram, he chose to go by road to Bhadrachalam via Eturunagaram, Mangapet, and Manuguru.
He assured the flood victims not to worry as the TRS government would take care of them. He would soon send a team of officials to plan for permanent structures that are flood resistant.
Mr KCR held a meeting with the officials and local leaders at Bhadrachalam after visiting the river Godavari and offering Shanthi Puja. He instructed the officials to be alert till June 29 as there were chances of rains again.
Later he undertook an aerial survey of the agency areas and habitations submerged under flood waters. He got down at Wazed Mandal headquarters and from there he proceeded by road to Eturunagaram where he held a meeting with the Mulugu district officials and public representatives till dark hours. Earlier he visited Ramannagudem where the bathing ghats got submerged in flood. He offered Shanti Puja. He walked two kilometres to reach the place with other leaders and officials.
He instructed the officials of various government agencies to work in three shifts with perfect coordination. He announced a new municipality and bus depot to Mulugu district headquarters following the representation by local leaders.
Mr KCR also announced funds for immediate flood relief works – Rs 2.5 crore for Mulugu district and Rs 1.5 crore to Mahabubabad district.
The chief minister traveled 250 kilometres for about eight hours. People in agency areas were elated to see him as it raised their hope for better facilities soon.
From ITDA, Eturunagara, he proceeded to Hanamkonda and camped at former MP Capt V Laxmikantha Rao. He is likely to leave for Hyderabad in the early hours to take part in the President of India election today.
