CM Mr KCR unhappy with the slow progress of irrigation projects

Holding a review meeting on the irrigation projects in the state, the chief minister Mr K Chandrasekhar Rao expressed his unhappiness over the delay in preparation of Detailed Project Reports on several projects.

Inquiring about the progress of DPR approvals for Godavari projects, he instructed the officials to submit all the details and additional information required by the Central Water Board and get the clearances at the earliest.

“It is sad to note delay in submission of DPRs for Sitarama, Samakkasagar, Mukteshwara (Chinnakaleshwaram) excavations, Chenaka Korata Barrage, Chautupally Hanmant Reddy excavations, and Modikunta Vagu projects.

He wanted them to prepare DPR on BR Ambedkar Pranahita project early to the Central Water Board and Godavari Board.  Mr KCR asked officials to keep in regular touch with the concerned officers of Godavari Board and prepare proposals to remove five Godavari projects from the Gazette Notification and send them to the Central Water Board.  They were also asked to take steps to call tenders for important projects this year.

The chief minister asked officials to call for tenders for the proposed construction of Headworks on Nagarjunasagar left canal, embankment uplift scheme, Kaleswaram project balance works in Kamareddy and Ellareddy constituencies, remaining Rangareddy and Vikarabad districts work in Palamuru-Rangareddy projects.

Mr Rao also directed the irrigation authorities to call for tenders for the barrage to be constructed as part of the Ambedkar Pranahita project, the Chennur excavation project, and the Kupti project on Kadem river.

“When we complete these works at the earliest, the target of strengthening the irrigation wing in Telangana will be achieved,” the chief minister told officials.
