Fulfilling yet another poll promise, the Telangana government has launched ‘Aasara’ – billed as the country’s most comprehensive pensions scheme for the poor and underprivileged.
CM K Chandrashekar Rao formally inaugurated the scheme at Kottur village in Mahabubnagar dist yesterday.
Speaking at the occasion, CM reiterated his commitment to ensure all promises made in the TRS election manifesto are fulfilled.
CM promised that all eligible people in the state would get the Aasara pensions and ration cards.
Under the scheme, differently abled persons would get Rs 1500 per month as pension, while old persons, widows, incapacitated weavers and toddy tappers would be getting Rs 1000 as monthly pension.
During earlier governments, old-age pensions were a paltry RS 200 per month. But CM KCR has increased it five fold to make it Rs 1000.
