One of the CM KCR’s pet projects `Dharani’, a portal meant for transparent land transactions has completed one year successfully.
Moved by the plight of farmers who were at the mercy of corrupt and heartless revenue officials at the lower rung, it was decided to put in place a transparent and hassle-free procedure in place. The Dharani portal thus came into existence after a three-year study by a group of officers.
Following the instructions of CM KCR, the officials visited and studied land transactions in various states and came up with suggestions. The Telangana State Technical Services (TSTS) took up the job and completed it. A citizen can buy, sell or mutate his land using the Dharani portal. Tehsildars were given the powers of sub-registrars. One has to book a slot and then approach the respective tehsildhar with documents to complete the transaction. The state government made it clear that it will dismiss those indulging in corruption.
So far, over 10.45 lakh slots were booked and of them, 10 lakh transactions were completed. The government lands were put up in block list and land disputes were entrusted to special tribunals set up for the purpose.
