Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has instructed the officials to link the entire Central Plain Water Scheme (CPWS) and other drinking water schemes with the Telangana drinking water project scheme to provide tap connection to every household in the district.
The Chief Minister reviewed Rural Water Supply (RWS) works with the officials along with Panchayat Raj Minister K. Taraka Rama Rao, Minister Finance Etala Rajender, MPs B. Vinod Kumar and Balka Suman, legislators K. Vidyasagar Rao, S. Satyanarayana, Gangula Kamalakar, Rasamayi Balakishan, B. Shoba, Putta Madhukar, Ch. Ramesh Babu, Manohar Reddy, ZP chairperson Tula Uma, MLC P. Sudhakar Reddy, Mayor S. Ravinder Singh, Panchayat Raj Secretary Raymond Peter, Collector Neetu Prasad and others. Mr. Rao instructed the authorities to construct water treatment plants covering one or two Assembly constituencies to reduce cost of maintenance and expenditure.
He also said that the water treatment plants should be located in urban and semi-urban areas for the benefit of staff to reside.
He wanted the authorities to construct intake wells where water is available throughout the year. Mr. Rao said that the authorities should supply water to the residents as and when the project is completed in the respective villages, instead of waiting for the completion of entire Telangana drinking water project.
