Centre forcing states on power reforms, CPM.

The central government is forcing the states to implement reforms that only further burden the people, said CPM state secretary Thammineni Veerabhadram.

He said the central electricity regulatory authority has been asking the state ERCs to collect increased charges on behalf of Disoms. The centre came up with a draft that aims at increasing 30 paise per unit every month. Already people were burdened by the increased charges and the new move will break the back of households. It will throw them into penury.

The CPM leader demanded that the centre immediately withdraw its proposal and draft bill.
