BRS calls for protests against central government on Dec 23

Resenting the BJP government’s decision to collect Rs. 151 crore of MNREGS fund from the state government, the BRS party has given a call for protest.

The centre is asking to pay back the MNREGS funds which were used for the construction of cement concrete yards (threshing floors) to dry the agricultural produce of farmers in their fields.

It is asking the state government to pay back that amount accusing the state government of diverting the funds. The chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has appealed to the centre to dovetail the MNREGS with the farming operations to benefit the farmers.

Already, several thousands of farmers constructed the yards and several other thousands of farmers are in the process of having the yards. The centre suddenly decided to stop and take back the amount from the state government much to the frustration of the farming community.

Ministers KT Rama Rao, T Harish Rao, Vemula Prashanth Reddy, A Indrakaran Reddy, MLC K Kavitha and others accused the BJP of conspiring against Telangana and its people.

To register their fury, the BRS has called for a state-wide protest at all the district collectorates on Friday.
