After a detailed discussion, the Rajya Sabha has cleared the Telangana bill.
BJP’s Venkaiah Naidu talked about the usual “equal justice” issue in his speech. Chiranjeevi said that he opposes the bill even though he is part of the government.
BSP chief Mayavati strongly supported the statehood bill. She said Seemandhra should get a new capital immediately. She opposed the plan to make Hyderabad a common capital.
Seemandhra MPs led by CM Ramesh disrupted the house several times. The speaker of the house adjourned the house 10 times during the day.
Telangana Congress MP V Hanumantha Rao assured that people from Seemandhra would not face any issues in the Telangana state. He reminded that this is not creation of a new state but a de-merger.
Responding to some queries raised by members, Union Law minister Kapil Sibal said that the time to create Telangana has come.
