Yielding to massive pressure mounted by Telangana activists, the GoM has taken back its proposal to add two Rayalaseema districts to the proposed Telangana state.
The day witnessed dramatic developments as hectic parleys took place between Congress leadership and members of GoM.
The last minute proposal of Rayala Telangana has met with stiff resistance from all sections of Telangana society. TRS, BJP, CPI, New Democracy parties have rejected the Rayala Telangana proposal outrightly.
TRS supremo KCR has called for a bandh today and lined up a series of protests to oppose the Rayala Telangana idea.
It is believed that Union minister and GoM member Ghulam Nabi Azad was the brains behind the Rayala Telangana plan.
Ultimately Azad had to beat a hasty retreat from his plan due to the all round criticism it received. He wrote a letter to GoM members yesterday night asking them not to go ahead with Rayala Telangana.
Telangana people showed their complete opposition to Rayala Telangana by making today’s bandh a resounding success.
