Telangana roared and sent shivers down the Seemandhra government ‘s spine on a historic day. Several lakhs of Telanganites participated in the Telangana March despite severe repression by the state government. Cadre of TRS, CPI, BJP and New Democracy parties marched in huge numbers. Representatives of several Telangana peoples organizations, Doctors, Lawyers, Students and Employees reached the venue by conducting rallies from various parts of the city. Police and paramilitary forces tried to stop the activists by erected barricades and barbed wire and sealing all entrances to Necklace road. But Telangana activists broke the police cordon and reached the venue. Police fired about 300 rounds of tear gas and resorted to indiscriminate lathi charge at dozen places in Hyderabd.
At Necklace road, activists vowed to continue the fight until Telangana is achieved. While several thousands of protesters continued their sit-in at the Necklace road venue, incessant rain led to flooding of the whole area and TJAC announced that they would be halting the protest for today. TJAC Chairman Prof Kodandaram announced that the fight would go on until statehood is achieved. He announced that TJAC would launch a one-day deeksha on October 2nd. He also announced that TJAC leaders would soon launch a fast-unto death.
