BJP state president G Kishan Reddy has said that his party would oppose any move by the Congress to create Rayala Telangana state (by merging Kurnool and Anantapur districts). Speaking to reporters here on Monday, he said the party will not allow the ‘Rayala Telangana’ bill to be passed in the Parliament.
Kishan Reddy’s comments are significant in wake of reports from Delhi indicating that Rayala Telangana will be created.
In case the UPA government tries to pass the Rayala Telangana Bill in the parliament BJP would see that it is defeated, he said and added that this move would be suicidal for the Congress as the party would be wiped out from both the regions.
“There is no question of accepting Rayala Telangana option. The people of region are fighting for separate Telangana and any option other than this is not acceptable to the people,’’ he said. ‘’No one has asked for Rayala Telangana. Why is the Congress pushing this option,’’ he wondered.
The BJP leader said the people of the region would accept only 10 districts of Telangana and would not accept any other option, including Hyderabad as Union territory or Hyderabad as a common capital. “Andhra Pradesh is not a private limited company of the Congress to bifurcate according to its whims and fancies. The people of the region would not tolerate such unilateral decisions of the Congress,’’ he said.
“If the state is bifurcated both Seemandhra and Telangana regions will develop. Seemandhra should not opt for Hyderabad as capital and should select some other place as capital, as it would help it develop their region,” he said.
