Taking strong objection to the Union Minister G Kishan Reddy’s claims that the BJP government liberally sanctioned funds to Telangana state, Finance Minister T Harish Rao rubbished the claims. Mr Harish Rao said the claims made by Kishan Reddy are a bundle of lies aimed at hoodwinking the people. “Mr Kishan Reddy has little focus and attention. He presented false figures and facts,” he said.
According to Telangana state government records, the state is due to get Rs. 1,43,061 crore under various heads. In 2017-18 to 2022-23, the Central government got Rs. 34,737 crore as GST compensatory cess but the Telangana government got just Rs. 8,927 crore as its share. Mr Harish Rao sought to know why the Central government refused to give Rs. 24,205 crore to Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya as recommended by Niti Aayog. The Central government did not give Rs 30,000 crore as the state did not comply with its order to fix power meters to borewells in farms.
Mr Kishan Reddy made a power point presentation on Saturday inviting BJP leaders, academics, intellectuals and social activists. Mr Harish Rao vowed that he would also make a power point presentation to give a tit for tat on BJP’s claims.
