People of Bhadrachalam have intensified their fight against Seemandhra imperialism. Several peoples’ organizations, political leaders, NGOs and activists have called for a 72 Hour Bandh in protest against Seemandhra leaders’ lobbying to merge Bhadrachalam Division in Seemandhra.
An all party meeting organized at Khammam town resolved to oppose moves by Seemandhra lobby to annex Bhadrachalam.
Leaders who spoke at the meeting expressed their anger on Seemandhra lobbyists for attempting to annex Bhadrachalam.
“Seemandhra leaders are not asking for Bhadrachalam division out of love for us. They want to annex this division and submerge it under Polavaram waters” said one leader, who attended the all-party meeting.
Other participants quoted historical records and said that Bhadrachalam temple is the property of erstwhile Hyderabad state.
The all party meet also called for a Khammam district Bandh on 19th Nov.
Telangana JAC, Telangana Journalists Forum also intensified their agitation on this issue.
Several towns of Khammam district have been rocking with protests since last few weeks.
