Bathukamma: Half-day Office for State Govt Women Employees

Women employees in Telangana state will work for half day from September 23 to October 2. They can leave office by 2 pm on the 10 days to play Bathukamma.

Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao announced this at a meeting held with women employees of the State Secretariat here on Tuesday.

Rao called upon women employees to play Bathukamma and create a festive atmosphere in all government offices.

He sanctioned `5 lakh for Secretariat employees for the purpose. He also declared that out of the `10 lakh sanctioned to each district collector to conduct Bathukamma, `1 lakh would be allotted to women employees.

Secretariat women employees will be formed into five teams and one each will be sent to two districts to prepare women employees to play Bathukamma. The tour expenses will also be borne by the government.

Additional secretary in CMO Smitha Sabharwal was entrusted with the additional responsibility of overseeing the arrangements for celebration of Bathukamma festival by women employees.

Telangana Secretariat Women Employees Association president J Subhadra, vice-president Lalitha Kumari, general secretary Arunasri, joint secretary G Premalatha and treasurer Indira attended the meeting.
