Bathukamma festival was celebrated on a grand scale with much pomp and fervour at Weekly Market in Kamareddi municipal town on Wednesday. Member of Parliament Kalvakuntla Kavitha joined the women playing ‘Bathukamma’ on the occasion.
After arriving in the town, she participated in making of Bathukammas. Later in the evening, carrying the Bathukamma on her head, she proceeded towards the main venue along with other women where Bathukamma was played. There was a huge congregation of women at the venue where Bathukamma was played. The district administration and the municipal council had made all necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the festival. They provided high mast lighting, drinking water, first aid and other facilities for those taking part in the festival.
