Autos to be Distributed to Minority Youths

Deputy chief minister Mohammed Mohamood Ali has said the minorities welfare department would distribute around 1,000 auto-rickshaws to minority youths in Hyderabad on Maulana Abul Kalam Azad’s birth anniversary on November 11.

Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat here on Thursday, the deputy CM said that the auto-rickshaws would be distributed in all districts at 500 autos per district. These autos would be provided on 50 per cent subsidy as part of self-employment programme. Each auto-rickshaw costs around `1.4 lakh. Out of which, `70,000 would be subsidy and the remaining amount would be arranged as a loan through nationalised banks. The subsidy portion would be provided through Minority Finance Corporation, he said.

He said free food was provided to 597 Haj pilgrims this year and the number would be increased to 1,000 from next year.

Under Shadi Mubaarak, the minorities department provided financial help to 21,800 women this year. Mohamood Ali said they would recruit 250 employees on a permanent basis in the minorities department to implement various schemes. He added that proposal for the recruitment was sent to the finance department.

Each Urdu medium school would be provided Rs 50,000 for providing basic amenities, he said adding that in the first phase, the government has selected 250 schools for the programme.

Efforts were also on to see that Minority Finance Corporation, Urdu Academy, Haj Committee and Wakf branches were fully functional in all the districts.

Earlier, Ali conducted a review with the officials on the implementation of the welfare schemes.
