Benefitting from an average of one and of half lakh people, the Arogya Sri scheme of the Telangana government covered 12 lakh people so far.
The state government had spent Rs 5,550 crore for the purpose. There are 87.5 lakh families covered under the scheme and in the past medical services worth Rs 2 lakh were offered. But the Telangana government raised the limit to Rs 5 lakh.
The chief minister Mr K Chandrasekhar Rao several times said that they would offer better Arogya Sri than that offered by the Congress regime in the past.
The scheme was launched in 2014-2015 has covered 1.5 lakh, people, every year on an average till date. Even during the Corona pandemic, the scheme was implemented and surgeries under the scheme increased manifold.
Recently, the health minister Mr T Harish Rao said in the case of organ transplantation the monetary limit has been raised to Rs 10 lakh. The scheme has come like a blessing to the poor. The scheme is also being extended to the migrants and surgeries are being conducted under Ayushman Bharat – Arogya Sri.
Similarly, there were instances when the private hospitals refused to implement the scheme due to pending dues. However, now the state government has cleared Rs 150 crore due to the total Rs 200 crore. The rest would be released in a phased manner. Thus the scheme was being implemented uninterrupted helping the poor the needy.
Mr Harish Rao said a total of 1.07 surgeries were performed during 2020-2021 in the second wave of the corona pandemic which only proves the commitment of the state government.
