Telangana Jagruthi president K Kavita on Friday said that if the Congress failed to make a favourable announcement by January 28, as promised by the Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, they would target the T Congress leaders to mount pressure on the Centre to bifurcate the state.
Addressing the public at a Mahadharna (mass demonstration) at Indira Park on Friday, Kavita said that it had no clarity about what the T Congress leaders had done to put pressure on the Centre and as to what they had advocated for statehood during their recent meeting with Congress high command.
She said that Congress leaders from the region lacked sincerity as compared to that of the elected representatives from Costal Andhra region, who in unison threatened to resign from their positions in case the Centre gave a decision against United Andhra Pradesh.
She said, “We will not let the (T Congress leaders) move freely in the region. Similarly, Coastal Andhra leaders, who are acting as anti forces for formation of T state will also have to face the heat.”
She said that in the last 30 days, it was clear that the leaders from Coastal Andhra region were making desperate attempts against the formation of separate Telangana. They are more worried about their empire in Hyderabad.
Kavita called upon the youth from the region to not take extreme steps in case a favourable decision is not given for the formation of separate state. “We will initiate a militant movement to realise our dream,” she said calling on the youth to voluntarily come onto streets triggering a revolutionary movement like the one which was witnessed across the country following brutal Delhi rape incident recently.
Thousands of pro-Telanganites, from different districts of Telangana, including women and children participated at the venue of ‘Mahadharna’ in the city. TRS MLA T Harish Rao also echoed similar ideas and said that no force could stop the formation of Telangana state. But it was an opportunity for the Congress to pass the bill for a separate state in their government. Elected representatives from the region should prove their genuineness for the cause of Telangana by resigning from the positions.
He said, “Congress government would fall in 2014 general election and over 100 seats from the region will be ours then no one could stop the formation of separate state,” said the TRS leader. Earlier, Congress MP G Vivekanand, participated in the programme to extend his solidarity for the cause. He had to face the heat of the protagonists who demanded his resignation as MP.
