An August Mo(ve)ment

Telangana movement is all set to reach a peak in the month of August. The Telangana JAC has announced a series of agitationa programs starting today. The indefinite strike (Sakala Janula Samme) is slated to start on 17th August. This strike will paralyze the entire state administration.

Here is the schedule of agitations:

August 1-3: Round Table meeting in districts and Hyderabad
August 4-6: Protest Rallies, Dharnas across Telangana
August 5th: Telangana Bandh
August 8-11th: Pen down by employees
August 12th: Meeting of all JACs
August 17th: Indefinite strike starts.

Telangana student JAC has also announced a series of agitational programs during the first two weeks of August. Complete boycott of classes will begin from August 17th.

A blockade of national highways for 72 hours is also being planned. The dates for this blockade will be announced soon.

Responding to a request made by CM Kiran Kumar Reddy, ministers belonging to the Telangana region have made it clear that they will not be attending their duties until the Telangana issue is resolved.

In a related development, Congress Rajya Sabha MP, K Keshav Rao told State Congress Incharge Ghulam Nabi Azad thet they would take back their resignations only if a positive statement on Telangana statehood is made.
