Water from Godavari

Participating in Mission Kakatiya works commenced at Gurralagondi village in Chinnakodur mandal on Wednesday, Mr. Harish Rao said that the tanks would be filled with water from Godavari in case they were not filled with rain water.

He said that a tank would be constructed for this purpose at Tadakapally on the lines of Lower Manair dam in Karimnagar district with about Rs. 5,000 crore and it would take about three to four years to complete.

Rs. 3 crore for infrastructure

The Minister said that restoration of works is on in about 126 tanks and farmers took 67,250 trucks of silt removed from tanks so far. He has also announced sanctioning of Rs. 3 crore for Gurralagondi and Narayanapur road, construction of agriculture godown with Rs. 3 crore and Rs. 8 lakh for Mahila Bhavan.

Mr. Harish has warned that action would be initiated against contractors and engineers who failed to maintain transparency.

Participating in Bandacheruvu restoration programme, he said that villagers should own up tanks and participate in the programmes.

Stating that only 276 farmers out of the 2,800 in the village came forward to take the silt removed from the tanks, he said that this would be the best opportunity for farmers to improve the soil health of their farms.
