Writers Demand Telangana Sahitya Akademi

Telangana writers on Sunday demanded that the Telangana government form a Telangana Sahitya Akademi and make efforts to propagate Telangana literature and culture all over the world.

“The government should form a Telangana Sahitya Akademi and make efforts to translate Telangana literature into other languages. It should also immediately initiate steps to prepare a dictionary of Telangana language,” demanded Telangana Rachayithala Vedika (TRV) president Jayadheer Tirumala Rao. He was speaking at TRV’s state executive committee meeting in Hyderabad on Sunday.

The government should support publishing of books written by Telangana writers and hike financial assistance given by Telugu University for publishing books from `5,000 to `25,000, Tirumala Rao said.

Writers from all over Telangana participated in the meeting to discuss steps to be taken for popularising Telangana language and literature in the new state.

“As part of popularising Telangana literature, we will hold a Telangana Sahitya Jatara in Siddipet in the next two months,” said G Nagabhushanam of TRV.

The writers also urged the government to announce ‘Jaya..Jaya…..he..Telangana’ as the State Song and publish it in all textbooks.
