The economic and social importance of the micro small and medium enterprise (MSME) sector is well recognized in academic and policy literature. They play a very important role in the economy in terms of balanced and sustainable growth, employment generation, development of entrepreneurial skills and contribution to export earnings. However despite their importance to the economy, most MSMEs are unable to stand up the challenges of globalization. It is recognized that this sector in the economy are underserved, especially in terms of finance.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Telangana unveiled the road map of the new industrial policy which incorporates the goals like raising the contribution of Manufacturing Sector to GSDP. This sector is the provider of essential products and services to the people and registered a higher growth rate than the rest of the industrial sector. The above said objectives can be achieved only by improving the access to finance of micro small and medium enterprises. It is crucial in fostering entrepreneurship, competition, innovation and technology adoption and growth of industrial sector especially MSME sector in India.
