Will change the face of Nizamabad: Kavitha

Member of Parliament K. Kavitha hinted at the change in design of Dr. Ambedkar Pranahitha-Chevella 20th to 22nd packages to stabilise the Nizamsagar Project ayacut in order to provide water for crops in two seasons in the district.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, she said that though the Congress government had spent over Rs.9,000 crore on the project, it could not even supply a drop of water to fields.

“We will provide water to 10 lakh acres in the district as against the present 4 lakh acres in next couple of years. People will definitely acknowledge the performance of our government after two years,” she claimed.

Replying a question, she said that unlike the previous governments, the TRS government stopped giving mobilisation advances to contractors and brought about changes in the tendering process to plug the corrupt practices.

“I will make efforts to convince the Centre to include the town in the smart city list,” she added.

Ms. Kavitha also said that the town would get a facelift in next two years acquiring all the necessary infrastructure and facilities, including good roads and drainage system. The master plan designed for the town in the year 1970 was neglected all these years and therefore the present dispensation would implement it soon, she said.
