Widespread condemnation against the issuance of summons to BRS MLC K Kavitha by the Enforcement Directorate (ED)

The BRS leaders and netizens condemned the issuance of summons to BRS MLC K Kavitha in a money laundering case that is linked to the New Delhi state excise policy.

The ED asked her to be present on March 9 in New Delhi. She asked the ED to postpone the date as she was preoccupied and had planned to protest at Jantar Mantar on March 10 on the women’s reservation bill. Since there was no reply from the ED, she decided to depose before the agency.

Ms K Kavitha left for New Delhi on Wednesday evening as planned to take part in the protest.

The BRS leaders described the issuance of summons as a political vendetta against the leaders of Opposition parties by the ruling BJP government at the Centre. She had earlier clarified that she had nothing to do with the liquor scandal and will not be frightened by the BJP pressure tactics.

Panchayat Raj minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao said unable to face Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the BJP government is targeting people around him to terrify him. The Central government is foisting false cases and putting non-BJP leaders behind the bars. People are watching the antics of the BJP, he said.

Tribal welfare minister Satyavathi Rathod said the BJP was trying to tame the leaders of Opposition parties by intimidating them by unleashing the investigative agencies. However, it cannot sustain on such cheap tricks for long. People will teach a befitting lesson to BJP in the next elections.

The Congress senior leader and former MP, V Hanumantha Rao too condemned the act of ED. How come they issue a summons and asked to be present within 24 hours? The Congress during its regime never misused the central government agencies as BJP is doing, he said.

People of Telangana are carefully watching the ongoing drama being enacted by the BJP. Any move to arrest BRS MLC will only result in the eruption of protests and unrest in Telangana and condemnation all over the country.
