TRS wins a cliff hanger in Parakala

Not even a 20-20 match would have come anywhere closer to the nail biting finish that the Parakala election results had offered today. In the end, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi clinched victory by a comfortable 1562 votes.

The counting was held in 19 rounds. TRS established an early lead over YSRCP candidate Konda Surekha, but started losing out from 14th round. In the end, TRS candidate Moluguri Bikshapathy won by a margin of over 1500 votes.

Both Congress and BJP lost their deposits by coming in 4th and 5th places. The election was extremely important for BJP, which had rallied all its resources to win in Parakala. In the end, TRS has emerged as the undisputed champion of the Telangana movement.

TRS supremo KCR has thanked the CPI party, Telangana JAC and all employee, student and other people’s organizations that have helped TRS in this election.

JAC chairman Prof. Kodandaram said that Parakala has shown the fate of parties that are not committed to Telangana. He said the movement would be intensified now.
