The Telangana Joint Action Committee will organise a massive public meeting, Sakala Janula Bheri, at the Nizam College Grounds here on September 29.
Announcing the decision to mediapersons after a lengthy extended steering committee meeting here Saturday, TJAC chairman M Kodandaram said they are organising the meeting in Hyderabad to make people aware of the latest happenings on Telangana state formation issue and at the same time mount pressure on the decision-makers in Delhi to expedite the process of Telangana state formation.
He called upon people of the 10 Telangana districts to attend the meeting in large numbers to make it a success. As a prelude to the meeting, ‘Sannahaka Rana Bheri’ programmes have been held in all the ten Telangana districts to mobilise the people for the meeting in Hyderabad on September 29. Processions and rallies will also be held at all district headquarters in the region.
Alleging that delay in implementing the CWC’s decision had led to the present situation in the state, Kodandaram said it was time Congress leaders, including those from Telangana, stepped up their pressure on their party high command to expedite the process of creating Telangana state with 10 districts and Hyderabad city as its capital.
He said the TJAC resolved to demand that the Centre make Hyderabad the capital of only Telangana state and not a common capital as proposed. He said the cabinet note, which is under preparation, should not propose Hyderabad as the common capital. TJAC leaders are planning to visit Delhi, before the final draft of Cabinet note is made, to persuade the Congress high command against announcing Hyderabad as common capital.
The TJAC also resolved to extend support to the meeting of MRPS at Guntur on September 26. According to sources, the steering committee also discussed the role of TJAC in the reformation of Telangana state after its formation and preparation of an action plan in that regard. TJAC had also discussed the supporting the political parties that are striving for the Telangana state after the state is formed.
While cautioning the people of Telangana against the possibility of Congress reconsidering its stand on Telangana, it wanted them to keep up the pressure till Telangana state became a reality.
TRS leader Sravan, who participated in the meeting, demanded that the state ministers from Telangana region resign as Kiran Kumar Reddy favours an integrated state. The TRS and the BJP extended their support to the TJAC meeting.
