The IT minister Mr K T Rama Rao said they have held hectic discussions to convince the French aviation company, Safran, to come to Hyderbad city. They have been following it up since 2018 and were in contact with them through various channels.
The Safran after considering 10 different locations including Indian cities Bangalore, Chennai, Uttar Pradesh, and others has, at last, zeroed in on Hyderabad to set up its maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility here with an investment of Rs 1,185 crore and that provides 1,000 highly skilled employees besides creating indirect jobs to many.
Mr Rama Rao thanked the company for choosing Hyderabad and said the state government had come up with industry-friendly policies. The government here is proactive and created a good ecosystem for investments for many global giants.
He said the state government had held nearly 35 meetings with the Safran Aeroengine MRO project since 2020. Despite pressure from Banglore and Chennai cities, finally, the company chose Hyderabad.
Speaking on the occasion, Safran CEO Mr Olivier Andries said by creating one of the major MRO centres in Hyderabad city, they are expanding their MRO activities in India. He said they will increase the number of employees by three times over the next four years.
