Defying prohibitory orders and midnight arrests, Telagana students launched an indefinite fast in front of Osmania University Arts College today morning. Political JAC chairman Prof Kodandaram, JAC leaders Mallepalli Laxmaiah, Srinivas Goud, Vimalakka came to the venue and extended their solidarity to the students’ agitation.
The situation around Osmania Universoty continued to be tense through out the day. Paramilitary forces lobbed tear gas and stun grenades at agitating students.
A bike rally to Raj Bhavan was stopped at the OU gates. Police and students fought pitched battles for several hours.
Members of a delegation of TRS & BJP leaders, which set out to meet Osmania University students, were arrested at state Assembly. The arrested leaders include Ex Mp Vidyasagar Rao, TRS MLAs Harish Rao and KTR.
In the afternoon, resigned Congress leaders also made a vain attempt to enter the Osmania University, but they were stopped by police at Ram Nagar. About 13 Congress MPs & MLAs were arrested.
