The setting up of NICDA between Central government and Japan is in the offing, which will be finalised in October, mostly before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed tour to Japan in October or November.

The request to sanction Japan Industrial Township was proposed by chief secretary Rajiv Sharma at a meeting with DIPP secretary Ramesh Abhishek and DIPP joint secretary Shailendra Singh at the Secretariat here on Wednesday.

The state has already got National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) for Medak. Rajiv Sharma wanted the visiting DIPP officials to sanction the Japan Industrial Township near Medak NIMZ so that it would boost the investment opportunities of the state.

The DIPP officials, who appreciated the efforts of the state government in launching the TS-iPASS and also the efforts put in for ease of doing business, agreed to include Telangana’s proposal to include Medak for the township. Japanese are willing to start around dozen such industrial townships in the country.
