Rail blockade for the next 48 in the Telangana districts has started with an amazing response. As part of the Sakala Janula Samme, all the trains departing, terminating and passing through the Telangana region have been cancelled or diverted.
The head quarters of South Cenral Zone, Secunderabad which handles a passenger traffic of 5-8 lakhs every day is completely deserted. Not a single passenger is seen in the railway station except a few maintenance employees. All the MMTS stations in twin cities reflect the mood in Secunderabad. Nearly 222 MMTS services are stopped. In total 176 passenger trains, 102 DHMU trains have been cancelled. 55 trains have been diverted and 40 have been partially cancelled.
The rail roko has literally made the Telangana region come to stand still. Secunderabad-Kazipet, Secunderabad-Guntakal, Kazipet-Ballarshah, Secunderabad-Vikarabad, Secunderabad-Vijayawada sections have recorded zero traffic. This has also rippled the impact over to the Seemandhra region. None of the services from Seemandhra region have entered Telangana and vice-versa.
On the other hand autos have also jumped into the fray. All the auto’s and trolleys will be blocked for the next 48 hours. With this the passenger, goods and transport has been shut down in toto.
