Power production has increased phenomenally in the country. However, the power production by the Central government and private companies is 45.32 percent while that of the Telangana government is 48.56 percent.
The central government production is 36 percent while the private companies’ production accounts for 82 percent.
Telangana power production saw an increase of 48.56 percent in the last eight years.
The Central government that did not set up a single power production unit has been encouraging the private companies to do so by giving all incentives and encouraging them, according to a report released by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA).
When the BJP came to power in the country in 2014, the power production was 2,74,04 MW which in 2022 is 3,99,497. In seven years, the percentage of increase is 45.32 percent of which private companies are dominant in power production.
Meanwhile, in Telangana, the thermal power production was 2282.5 and hydel power production was 2081.76 in 2013-2014 that saw an increase of 4042.5 thermal power and 2441.76 hydel power production in 2022-2023 respectively an increase of 48.56 for the same corresponding period. There was an increase of 77.10 MW in thermal power production and 17.29 MW in hydel power production in Telangana.
Many power plants are still in progress in Telangana and once commissioned, a new history will be in the making in Telangana in terms of power production.
