Telangana representation at India’s Independence day Celebrations 2016 in London by Telangana NRI forum.
London and UK Indians celebrated the 70th Indian Independence Day on Sunday, August 21st 2017 at Osterley Gymkhana London. The occasion had special feature for as Guinness world record with the biggest Indian flag painting.
Indian High commissioner to UK H. E. Mr. Navtej Sarna Hoisted the flag followed by National Anthem, Later in his message he appreciated entire Indian Community living in UK for keeping the Indian spirit and carrying the culture, tradition.
Around 15,000 plus guests attended this event belongs to different regions of India and also many stalls were kept to represent respective regions and NRI organisations
Telangana NRI Forum (TeNF) in his consecutive third year represented Telangana and this year with new spirit and enthusiasm setup a stall to promote Telangana culture, tradition, business opportunities, tourism, food specialties, leadership and governance with a detailed exhibition and stats.
UK H. E. Mr. Navtej Sarna along with Ram Vilas Paswan Union Minister of Food and Public Distribution and Indian origin British MPs Virendra Sharma, Seema Malhotra visited the stall and appreciated the efforts of TeNF and the way we marketing new state of Telangana to the world. TeNF representatives took the guests thru the exhibited items and briefed about the past one year achievements and awards received for the excellence. At the end paid tribute to the displayed pictures of National leaders and Telangana ideologue Prof. Jayashankar Sir, then cake cutting to mark the Independence Day celebrations at Telangana stall specially.
There was a huge range of cultural programs organised by Nehru centre. For the first time in the history of UK, Telangana folk dance was performed by TeNF – women Preeti Nomula and Swetha Reddy with Pavitra Kandi, Jyothi Kasrala, Aparana, Latha, Sandhya, Vani, Jayshree, Sri Lakshmi, to showcase Telangana Folk, which steal the show and applauded widely across the communities. Later special appreciation was given to TeNF for being part of the Indian communities’ cultural show and representing new state of Telangana.
Other visitors and guests belongs to Telangana personally felt proud to see Telangana stall and expressed their happy and appreciated our efforts.
TeNF served authentic Telangana food to all the guests visited stall, which was widely appreciated by all.
