Telangana Nod to 18 Industries, 13K Jobs Assured

Industries minister Jupally Krishna Rao on Tuesday gave permission to 18 new industries, applied under the TS-iPASS. Of the 18 industries, which have been issued approvals, the biggest was Cognizant Tech Services Private Limited with an investment of Rs 655 crore and would create an employment of around 8,500 personnel.

ITC, Sify, HSIL, Winsol, Chemo India, Atlas copco, Surana, Earth Solar were some of the other industries. These are to come up in Medak, Ranga Reddy, Mahbubnagar, Karimnagar and Khammam districts. The total investments are to a tune of Rs 2,167.47 cr and will create employment opportunities to about 13,817 people.

The total investments so far under the TS-iPASS are Rs 33,101 crore and the employment generated is 1,20,169, the minister said.

Approvals were given for Software development, Solar, Pharmaceuticals, Plastic pipes, Granites and Seed processing units. An industrialist told that he had initially thought of setting up his plant in Goa but shifted to Telangana because of the single window system.
