A team from Wageningen University and Research Centre of Netherlands on Monday held talks with Agriculture Secretary C. Parthasarathi for collaboration between the university and Telangana Government in promoting sustainable development in food and agribusiness including dairy.
The two sides have identified some priority areas including greenhouses, spice park, processing of citrus fruits, dairy sector and others for exchange of technologies.
The Netherlands team was led by university’s Manager (International Cooperation-Asia) A.J. Rothuis.
The meeting was a follow up to the memorandum of understanding signed between Government of Telangana and Wageningen University in September to create a knowledge partnership in food and agribusiness sectors.
Mr. Parthasarathi stated that Wageningen University is one of the leading international knowledge institutes in the field of food and food production with competence in the field of agribusiness and related activities. It was decided that a team of 5-6 officers from Telangana would visit Wageningen University in February/March 2016.
Senior researcher and business coordinator at Wageningen University Kalyan Chakravarthy, Director of Animal Husbandry, A. Venkateshwarlu, Director of Research at Prof. Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University D. Raj Reddy, Commissioner of Horticulture L. Venkatram Reddy and others participated.
