Telangana Legislators take the oath

The newly elected MLAs including CM KCR took oath in Telangana Legislative Assembly on January 17, 2019. The Pro-tem Speaker Mumtaz Ahmed Khan administered the oath of office to the newly elected members.

On January 16, 2019, a six-time MLA of the All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Mumtaz Ahmed Khan took oath as Pro-tem speaker at Raj Bhavan.

He was administered the oath of office in Durbar Hall at the Raj Bhavan by Governor ESL Narasimhan and the event was attended by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, AIMIM president and Hyderabad Lok Sabha member Asaduddin Owaisi, and elected MLAs from TRS and AIMIM among others.

As a part of the proceedings, the ruling TRS party under the leadership of CM KCR proposed the name of senior MLA Sri Pocharam Srinivas Reddy for the post of Legislative Speaker.

Earlier, the Chief Minister had reached out to all political parties seeking their support in ensuring a unanimous choice of the nominee for Speaker’s post.

While Pocharam Srinivas Reddy filed his nomination for the post of Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker, the leaders of the opposition parties supported him. With all political parties supporting his candidature he will be elected unanimously.
