Hyderabad and Boston to extend cooperation for the growth of IT, Pharma and Life Sciences sectors. Governor of Massachusetts and Minister KTR explore the areas of mutual interest
Telangana IT and Industries Minister KTR and H.E. Charlie Baker, Governor of Massachusetts today participated in the ‘Global Innovation 2022 Health Care at a Glance’ event held in Boston, USA.
Speaking at the event, Minister KTR stated that creating awareness on the opportunities available in the two cities through regular events would help bring more investments.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister briefed about the health records digitization project being taken up by Telangana Government in two districts on a pilot basis.
“In addition to the life sciences scientists, the coordinated effort by data scientists from the IT and Technology segments will pave the way for more inventions,” KTR opined.
Telangana Government was according top priority for development of different sectors and as a result the State is witnessing comprehensive development. It has also become a favourite investment destination for various sectors, he said.
The Minister cited the example of Novartis operations in Hyderabad to underscore the increased role of technology in the life sciences and bio sciences. Explained about the investment opportunities in the city for these sectors.
Speaking on the occasion, Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker stated that the digitization of healthcare records proved to be very beneficial during the Covid-19 pandemic in extending faster treatment to the citizens.
Mr. Charlie Baker also said that all possibilities should be explored for mutual investment opportunities between Boston and Hyderabad and stressed on the need for tie ups between life sciences and pharma companies of respective cities.
Mr. Baker stated that there are many similarities between Hyderabad and Boston adding that the tie-ups between companies would aid in accelerating research and development, besides spurring inventions. Like Hyderabad, many life sciences, pharmaceutical companies, IT and Technology companies were functioning in Boston, the Governor said.

Will double the Pharma and Life Sciences companies output
Speaking at the Roundtable conference in Boston, the Minister said Telangana Government has taken up many programmes to promote life sciences sector.
Under these initiatives, provision of basic amenities on par with international standards, policy decisions, special funding for innovation, special incubator at Genome Valley, were taken up and this was yielding desired results, he said.
“Telangana Government is working with a clear goal of doubling the life sciences and pharma production,” said KTR.
