Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Monday made it clear that it will bear the fees of only Telangana students under the fee reimbursement scheme for professional and other higher education courses.
It categorically stated that the fees of students from AP studying in Hyderabad and other Telangana districts must be borne by the AP government. It also stated that it will pay the fees of Telangana students studying in AP. All this will be applicable from the current academic year 2014-15.
It was also decided to share the existing fee arrears of Rs 2,600 crore between the two states on the same parameters. The decision was taken at the all-party meeting convened by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao at the Secretariat, to discuss the fee reimbursement issue. Floor leaders of the Telangana Legislative Assembly from all the parties attended the meeting.
