Telangana cabinet approves 10 lakh new pensions.

 

The state cabinet that met here last evening has approved 10 lakh new pensions. They will be given from August 15.

The state government is already giving pensions to 35 lakh people and with this, the total will go up to 46 lakh pensions. All the beneficiaries will be given special cards.

The cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister Mr K Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to allocate 15 acres of land at Vikarabad for setting up Auto Nagar, 30 acres at Yalala for Thandur market and 45 acres of land at Shabad for stone polishing units under the aegis of TSIIC.

The cabinet observed that though the allocations under centrally sponsored schemes came down by 12.9 percent, the state registered a growth rate of 15.3 percent. In terms of IT sector growth, Telangana ranked first in the country.

Had the Central government achieved the progress that Telangana state did, the GSDP would have gone up by another Rs 3 lakh crore taking the total to Rs 14.50 lakh crore, the officials opined.

Though the Telangana population constituted 2.5 percent of the total population of the country, it had been contributing five percent to the GDP. The State’s own taxes witnessed a growth of 11.5 percent and stood top.

The state revenue which was Rs 62,000 crore in 2014-2015 has increased by three times in the last seven years.

The cabinet also decided to fill up as many as 5,111 Anganwadi posts. CM Mr KCR instructed the officials to fill up all the 35,700 vacancies in a phased manner at the earliest.
