The ten districts of Telangana shut down voluntarily as a mark of respect to two Telanganites who had immolated themselves over the delay in state formation. The bandh call was given by TRS and was supported by Telangana Joint Action Committee, BJP, CPI, New Democracy and several people’s organizations.
Educational institutions, cinemahalls, petrol bunks and other business establishments in all Telangana districts were shutdown. Keeping in view the ongoing SSC (10th Class) exams, RTC buses were exempted from the strike.
Employees of Singareni Colleries attended the duties by wearing black badges.
In the evening, candle-light vigils were held at several places in Telangana to pay homage to the Telangana martyrs.
