Telanganan NRI Association (TeNA) Boston chapter held a seminar “Telangana at Cross Roads” with leading Telangana activist and a well known political analyst, Sri V Prakash on 10th July 2013 at Mayuri Restaurant Banquet Hall in Westborough, Massachusettes.
Sri V. Prakash initially gave the historical context of present Telangana movement starting in 1997 leading up to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi formation in 2001 under the leadership of KCR. The history since then is well known to most of the Telangana people. Prakash also spoke about the current political situation in Telangana. He was not confident that Congress will make a decision on Telangana state in the near future. Only alternative Telangana people have is to vote for TRS and defeat Congress and TDP so that TRS can emerge as the sole representative of people of Telangana. In the era of coalition politics at the center, he felt confident that there is a strong possibility of forming the govt with TRS support at which point Telangana state can be definitely realized.
Earlier, the gathering observed one minute silence for remembering Prof. Jayashankar and all the martyrs of Telangana movement. V. Prakash garu appreciated the efforts of Telangana NRIs over the years and said these type of Telangana meetings and activities done in foreign countries, small and big act as a big oxygen and inspiration to the activists on the ground. He also expected the same level of involvement and attachment to the development of future Telangana even after we realize the Telangana state.
