The state government plans to complete Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation project works in a record year’s time and provide water to farmers by December 2017.
“All the departments should work in tandem for completion of the project in a year’s time. We have to create a record by completing the project,” Harish Rao told officials at a review on the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project held here on Thursday.
It was decided at the meeting that the construction of Medigadda barrage, being planned as part of the Kaleshwaram project, to start in two weeks.
Construction works on two more barrages – Annaram and Sundila – would also be started on November 15. Simultaneously, the construction of pump house works too will be started.
Later, the minister conducted a video conference with district collectors on the issue of release of water to Rabi crop. He directed them to provide water in ‘tail to head’ system so that the tail-end farmers will get water first. Officials were told to acquire lands for irrigation projects under GO 123 from those willing to part their lands. Otherwise, lands will be acquired under the Land Act, 2013, Harish said.
The irrigation minister also directed the officials to call for tenders for Mallanna Sagar reservoir works by the end of this month.
