Tanks Brimming with Water in North Telangana Districts

Good rainfall in north Telangana helped increase ayacut under minor irrigation tanks in at least four districts. Despite drought situation in south Telangana, the minor irrigation tanks in north Telangana districts of Adilabad, Karimnagar and Khammam are brimming with water this season.

According to irrigation department officials, crops were raised in around 2.5 lakh acres in Khammam district under minor irrigation tanks due to good rains in June, July and September. Sowings were completed in around two lakh acres under minor irrigation tanks in Adilabad district. Similarly, two lakh acres were under cultivation under minor irrigation tanks in Karimnagar district.

The restoration of minor irrigation tanks under Mission Kakatiya helped to store more water in minor irrigation tanks in Adilabad and Khammam.
