Seething with anger for the irresponsible comments made by Ghulam Nabi Azad in China, Congress lawmakers from Telangana today ignored his invitation to come to New Delhi for talks.

Meanwhile, a delgation of Seemandhra people’s representatives landed in Delhi to press for a United AP. Azad told the delegation in New Delhi that they should “exercise restraint” till a decision on the Telangana issue is taken by the Centre.

He also urged the delegation to select a few representatives from the coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions and send them for the consultation process.

The meeting came as Congress leaders from the Telangana region decided not to accept Azad’s invitation to come to New Delhi for talks.

“Telangana people are hurt by his (Azad) comments that consensus and assembly resolution are necessary for formation of a separate state and that the Telangana issue should begin from zero.

“We cannot accept his invitation until he withdraws his comments. He needs to clarify. Then only, our coordination committee will sit and decide,” Congress MP G Sukhender Reddy told reporters here.

He was referring to Azad’s statement in Beijing that the Telangana issue cannot move an “inch” without the state assembly passing a unanimous resolution.
