The meetings planned between Congress leaders in Telangana and Seemandhra with Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for discussions on drafting the note to be sent to the Group of Ministers (GoM) that is looking to modalities of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh has run into a controversy with the CM deciding not to meet Telangana leaders.
Reddy is learnt to have told Telangana leaders to discuss it with Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) chief Botsa Satyanarayana, while he himself would meet with Seemandhra leaders. The CM’s decision came under sharp criticism with several Telangana leaders accusing him of discrimination.
Telangana leaders met the APCC chief this morning and discussed what they wanted to be put in the note to be presented to the GoM.
Satyanarayana said Telangana leaders have demanded that Telangana state be formed with 10 districts with Hyderabad as capital without any conditions. “They are ok with Hyderabad being joint capital after bifurcation, but want the period to be reduced to 3 to 5 years only and not 10 years as proposed,” he said. Telangana leaders also demanded financial packages for backward regions of Telangana. The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) demanded that overall policing of Telangana, including Hyderabad city, remain with Telangana state.
