Statehood to Telangana region is hard-won and is not a charity from any party, said TRS senior leader and MLC K Kavitha.
It was a prolonged struggle by the people of Telangana under the leadership of Mr K Chandrasekhar Rao that forced the national parties to concede to the demand. The aspiration for a separate statehood has been there for six decades and it was Mr KCR who spearheaded the struggle and fulfilled the aspiration.
Ms Kavitha was responding to a Twitter message by Congress leader Mr Manickam Tagore. “Telangana people democratically struggle and they won it. It is not a gift from the Central government,” she pointed out.
She asked the Congress leaders to understand the magnanimity of Mr KCR who defended Mr Rahul Gandhi beyond politics when Assam chief minister Hemanth Biswas made uncharitable remarks.
Ms Kavitha advised the Congress leader to introspect first before making any remarks against Mr KCR.
It may be noted that Mr KCR strongly defended Mr Rahul Gandhi when he was attacked by the Assam chief minister who made filthy remarks. Later he also made several remarks against Mr KCR further stooping to the lowest level.
However, Mr KCR remained unperturbed as he is aware of the worst behaviour of BJP leaders. They have lost their mental balance and become unscrupulous elements.
