Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna said that a special police force would be appointed to protect forest area in Telangana State.
Speaking to reporters after visiting Pocharam forest area on Saturday, Mr. Ramanna said that safe forest only can assure food security and as part of that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has accepted to constitute special commissionarate to protect forests.
Rs. 650 crore allocated
Informing that about 2,600 vacant posts in the department would be filled shortly, he said that the government has allocated Rs. 650 crore for the department as against the allotment of Rs. 56 core made by the previous government.
Harita Restaurant
Deputy Speaker M. Padma Devender Reddy said that efforts are on to get sanctioning of Harita Restaurant at Pocharam.
She has also informed that Rs.50 lakh was sanctioned for the repairs of irrigation guest houses.
Earlier in the day, the Minister has formally launched the membership drive at the town. He has extended membership to Municipal Chairman Mallikarjun Goud. Ms. Padma and others were also present.
