IT and Industries Minister K.T. Rama Rao who is leading the Telangana delegation on a short business trip to the US had a highly productive day in Chicago. The delegation met leadership teams of various global companies, academicians, and government officials.
The Minister highlighted the state government’s efforts for industrial growth and presented Telangana as an ideal destination for business. Meetings and discussions with the delegates centred around potential investment opportunities and exploration of avenues for collaboration.
AliveCor
In a meeting that took place in Chicago, US, Industries Minister KTR had a vibrant discussion with the leadership team of AliveCor, a frontrunner in medical devices and AI.
“ECG Tech of Alive Cor for remote heart monitoring and abnormal rhythm detection is revolutionary. They are enthusiastic about potential partnerships to boost Med-Tech in Telangana! Exciting updates coming soon,” said KTR.
KTR added that he anticipates remarkable collaborations and a boost to our economy going forward. “There isn’t a better place to be in right now than that at the futuristic ‘Health-Tech Mecca’ – Hyderabad,” said the Minister.
Carelon
Industries Minister KTR met with Mr. Rajat Puri, President and Chief Operating Officer of Carelon, an Atlanta based health-tech company (Fortune 22 company) in Chicago, US.
“Delighted to note that Hyderabad has emerged as a key global center for Carelon, which has added more than 8000 highly paid jobs in the last 3.5 years alone. The company has similar growth plans over the next 3-5 years, which reflects the growing appeal of our state’s business environment and talent ecosystem,” said KTR
During the meeting, the Minister highlighted efforts of the State Government to expand industrial and IT growth across all the cities and towns of Telangana with an aim to Decongest, Decarbonize and Decentralize.
“Given their extraordinary growth in head-count and plans, requested Carelon to consider expanding in the Tier 2 locations to provide ample opportunities to the youth in cities other than Hyderabad,” said the Minister
ADM
The Telangana delegation led by Industries Minister KT Rama Rao met with Mr. Vikram Luthar, Chief Financial Officer of ADM in Chicago.
Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) is one of the largest agricultural processing companies in the world. The company is a major exporter of food ingredients and agricultural commodities from India.
The Telangana team made a presentation on the impressive and unprecedented growth of Telangana in terms of agriculture production and overall development in economic and social terms.
ADM has expressed interest in exploring possibilities of significantly increasing their footprint in India and Telangana. The state government offered comprehensive support to facilitate business activities including exports of agriculture commodities, establishment of processing facilities and conducting cutting edge R&D on bio-manufacturing amongst other things.
Meeting with First Asst. Deputy Governor of Illinois State
The Telangana delegation led by IT and Industries Minister KTR met Christy George, First Asst. Deputy Governor of Illinois State and Kristin Richards, Commerce Secretary along with representatives of World Business Chicago, in Chicago.
They discussed opportunities for collaboration in areas like clean tech, sustainable mobility, life sciences, aviation and agri sectors. The two sides agreed to foster academic partnerships and strengthen bridges between the innovation ecosystems of Hyderabad and Chicago.
Mr. Somnath Ghosh, Consul General of India in Chicago was present at the meeting.
Meeting with Prof. Madhav Ranjan, Dean of Chicago Booth School
IT and Industries Minister KTR who is on his US tour, met Prof Madhav Ranjan, Dean of Chicago Booth School, a top ranked business school in the world in Chicago. They exchanged views on the key role of academic collaboration in further strengthening Indo-US strategic partnership.
During the meeting the Minister highlighted how the ‘Telangana Model’ of socio-economic development through its 3’i’ mantra of innovation, infrastructure and inclusiveness has ushered unprecedented growth and made Telangana the richest state in India in terms of per capita income.
KTR has invited Booth School to explore the possibility of having more exchange programs, conducting state-specific research, and establishing potential partnerships similar to ISB in Hyderabad.
